Back to school Assembly

Climate change is being treated as something inevitable and the way we are proceeding with our daily lives whilst giving it little to no thought only adds to the problem. The truth about climate change is that ultimately it will become an irreversible phenomenon once the planet’s temperature increases by four degrees Celsius. This is predicted to happen in the next century. This leaves us with the next few decades as a time to react and reverse global warming to preindustrial revolution era. This is what has inspired many but Trump to work on researching ways to deal with this change. Major institutions and corporations including NASA, Harvard University and many others are working towards making the most out of this buffer period before the start of the supposed major apocalyptic changes. The Melchiorri’s silk leaf is a direct result of these researches. The leaf is a living and breathing organism which uses moisture in the atmosphere and carbon dioxide to convert it to oxygen. It also traps many major polluting factors in the air within itself. The leaf has been a game changer for climate change scientists and has widespread applications one of which is a generator of oxygen in outer space. Such inventions really do give a hint of hope for our planet but the truth is such inventions are really the keys to inspiring all of us to play our part in the smallest possible ways like closing taps, switching off lights and using both sides of a sheet of paper. The environment team at our school has begun with its initiative towards waste reduction and recycling with a paper recycling project to replace store-bought chart papers. Many more such ideas are underway to ignite a sea change within the student body.
